ICYMI: The Denver Broncos chose Samford wide receiver Montrell Washington with the 162nd pick in the 87th NFL Draft on Saturday.
Washington enters the NFL as a fifth-round draft choice after leading NCAA FCS with 1,938 all-purpose yards in 2021.
In the Common Draft Era , eight Samford players have been drafted. The others were wide receiver Rex Keeling in 1967, defensive end Gary Fleming in 1969, cornerback Cortland Finnegan in 2006, cornerback Corey White in 2012, defensive tackle Nick Williams in 2013 and safety Jaquiski Tartt in 2015.
