Mark Thewes , a longtime fixture in the Denver Broncos organization, is leaving his role as vice president of football operations and compliance to join the Las Vegas Raiders as senior vice president of football operations. Thewes, who has been with the Broncos for 16 years, began his tenure as a former Ohio high school teammate of then-coach Josh McDaniels.

While McDaniels's time with the Broncos was short-lived, Thewes remained a constant presence, working under eight coaches (including interim coaches) and three general managers. He was known for his versatility, often assisting with drills, equipment setup, and even play-calling during the tumultuous 2022 season. The opportunity to join forces with former Broncos scout and Raiders general manager John Spytek proved too enticing to pass up. Thewes's departure is part of a trend of Broncos personnel moving to other organizations. This offseason alone has seen several key coaches and staff members depart for bigger roles, including offensive coordinator Mike Mougey (Chicago Bears), passing game coordinator David Shaw (Detroit Lions), and special teams coordinator Chris Banjo (New York Jets). The Broncos have also seen the departures of special teams coordinator Ben Kotwica and linebackers coach Greg Manusky.
