Broncos cornerback Pat Surtain II was named the AFC Defensive Player of the Month for November, the league announced on Thursday.
He was targeted 17 times on 140 coverage snaps and forced a tight window — less than 1 yard of separation — on 41.2% of targets, the ninth-highest rate among 88 cornerbacks with at least 10 targets during that span, according to NFL’s Next Gen Stats. Surtain also allowed 4.0 yards per target and did not allow a single completion over 10 air yards.This is the first time Surtain has been named defensive player of the month.
Through 13 games, Surtain has 31 tackles, three interceptions, including a pick-6, and nine passes defended. He has given up a 60.5 passer rating when targeted.The Broncos have selected inside linebacker Alex Singleton as the team’s nominee for the 2024 Walter Payton NFL Man of the Year award. Singleton, who is out for the season with a torn ACL, has been an advocate for the Special Olympics. His older sister, Ashley, has been a Special Olympics athlete for more than 20 years. Throughout his career, Singleton has supported the organization by volunteering at the Special Olympics Winter Games and attending weekly events in Colorado.
