The G Line bikes—both with 20-inch wheels, larger than the brand’s usual 16-inch wheels—are designed around the fold that has made Brompton one of the leading folding bikes in the world. Designer Andrew Ritchie created the first Brompton folding bike in 1975.
“Brompton owners are passionate about their bikes but it has always been a bike optimized for cities,” said Brompton CEO Will Butler-Adams in a press statement. “Now, as more and more people look to escape the city, exploring roads and trails less traveled, it was the right time to take everything that makes the Brompton so special, and make it capable of going beyond the urban environment and into tougher terrain.”The G Line bike is the first Brompton to come equipped with disc brakes. The Electric G Line’s 250-watt rear hub motor delivers 345-kwh of lightweight power assist with a stated 20 to 40 miles range.
There’s also a bespoke selection of G Line specific accessories allowing owners to fit luggage racks, fenders, and a variety of bags. The G Line 8-Speed costs $3,160. The Electric G Line 4 speed costs $4,615. Both models will be available from next month, said Brompton. Our community is about connecting people through open and thoughtful conversations.
