A large hole and a flooding creek is causing serious concerns to motorists using the Silver City Highway between Broken Hill and Tibooburra in NSW's Far West.Transport for NSW has said that works will commence on Monday March 25 to fix the large hole in the road.
Adding to the grazier's concern, is that despite the 100km/h speed limit, prior to Thursday afternoon, there was no signage warning approaching motorists of the serious hazard."I took more notice of it about six months ago. We've been banging on about it for that long," Mr Lawrence said. "Or a caravan, or worse still, a family coming down from Tibooburra It's so hard to see. They should have flashing lights at the very least."
While the works are carried out, a night line and signage have been installed at the site to ensure motorists are alerted of the hazard.Sealing works were completed in just 2020 of the highway but certain areas of it are continuing to cause disruptions and serious worry as a result of extreme weather.
"Where it goes across the creek it's quite low, there's a lot of sand in that section and as the water loses velocity it drops the silt out," Mr Smith said.
