Caitlyn Jenner recently apologized to son Brody for 'the first time' for how 'Keeping Up With the Kardashians' affected the 'Hills' alum's life. 'It felt very invasive,' the 'Special Forces' star says.
. “That was the first time in my life that I've ever gotten an apology, you know, I'm sorry for not being there. And, honestly, it meant a lot."
Over the years, Brody has been open about feeling that Caitlyn was not always there for him. The former star ofAfter Brody performed well as a leader in a challenge on the reality competition, members of the DS, or directing staff, called him in to see what was behind his drive. The conversation quickly turned to his family and what it had been like for him growing up.
"I had an incredible mother," Brody said of Linda Thompson. But he shared that Caitlyn "wasn't around that much." And after his parents split, Caitlyn "met a woman. She had kids as well, the one that he met, and then they had kids together."Brody admitted that he felt "a bit abandoned" over those years, but acknowledged that Caitlyn also had personal struggles when she was transitioning. Brody shared in a confessional interview that when he found out that Caitlyn wanted to transition "it was sort of a relief" and that "there were a lot of things that started to make sense" about why his parent had not been as present for him."I think when you have kids, you need to accept a little bit of the responsibility that the things you do are also going to reflect on them as well," he remarked. "I think it really has shaped me to do everything different.
In the last minutes of the episode, it became clear that not everyone in the cast had been aware of who Brody was, even at that point. Former NFL quarterback Cam Newton told another recruit that he'd just figured out the connection and now sees how much Brody resembles Caitlyn."I never put two and two together,” Newton told Golden Tate, another former NFL standout. “I knew exactly who he was.
