Campaigners accused the planners behind 21-storey building of trying to kick out it’s ethnic minority residentsA HIGH-RISE tower linked with the “ethnic cleansing” of Brixton should be rejected, City Hall documents reveal.was proposed by multi-millionaire property developer, Texan Taylor McWilliams, who already owns a significant slice of businesses in the Brixton area.

However, campaigners were curtailed after a public hearing on whether the tower construction would go ahead was abruptly cancelled with just a week’s notice after being scheduled for 10 June this year. Danai Nardi, a representative for Fight the Tower, said: “The findings from the report are not shocking, but it is sad to see how much money and energy is being poured into keeping an unsuitable, failing development proposal on life support.

Labour MPs including Bell Ribeiro-Addy and Helen Hayes have previously spoken out against the proposed building and 7,000 local residents signed a petition against the plan.
