British tourists in Spain have been met with a stark warning to "go home" as residents express their frustration over the impact of tourism on their quality of life. With Malaga facing claims of becoming "unliveable", an expatriate has voiced the challenges of relocating to the country amidst the onset of the spring and summer holiday season across Europe.
Bar proprietor Dani Drunko, who was evicted from his residence to accommodate tourists, lamented: "Malaga city centre has been going downhill for a long time. If something in my bar breaks, I don't have a hardware store to buy anything the tourists don't need to buy screws." Meanwhile, Spain's tourism figures saw a surge in February due to an influx of international visitors seeking a winter escape, with arrivals reaching five million this yearup by 15.9 per cent compared to 2023, reports Birmingham Live.
