Britney Spears has revealed that her memoir, ‘The Woman in Me,’ is being adapted into a biopic. Universal Pictures won the rights to the film in a competitive auction that involved major studios and streamers. The biopic is set to be directed by Jon M. Chu and produced by Marc Platt; Spears will also be involved in the project, according to CNN.
Universal has landed the rights to Spears’ bestselling memoir, “The Woman in Me,” which is being developed as a biopic of the pop star’s life, CNN has confirmed with the studio.
On Thursday, Spears posted on X, “Excited to share with my fans that I’ve been working on a secret project with #MarcPlatt. He’s always made my favorite movies … stay tuned!” The studio has not released any information regarding Spears’ involvement in the film, but a source close to the singer tells CNN that she will be involved in the project.
In recent years, Spears has been open about her childhood and complicated relationship with her family, which is sure to be explored in the biopic, in addition to her rise to fame, struggle with her paparazzi-filled global celebrity status and her conservatorship.
