A British 22-year-old was knifed in the stomach early this morning at Playa de las Americas in Arona, on the south of the island. He was rushed to a hospital in the capital Santa Cruz de Tenerife.

The victim, who was admitted to an intensive care unit at a hospital in the Tenerife capital Santa Cruz, is thought to have been on holiday on the island although there has not yet been any official confirmation.
