A British mother and father received suspended prison terms after pleading guilty to leaving their three young children alone in a hotel room while they went partying in Spain. The children are now in foster care and social services are working with British authorities on their future.
A British couple arrested for abandoning their three young children at a Costa del Sol hotel to go partying have been handed suspended prison sentences after pleading guilty.
The children, aged six months, one year, and four years, were discovered alone at the Holiday World Resort in Benalmadena. While unconfirmed reports suggested the infant had tested positive for cocaine, authorities did not officially comment on that allegation. The parents, aged 41 and 28, accepted sentences of one year and four months each under a plea bargain, which were automatically suspended.
They are also banned from contacting their children for two years and from approaching within 500 meters of them. Additionally, they have been disqualified from exercising parental authority for two years and eight months. The children remain under the guardianship of Andalusia's social services, which plans to coordinate with the British consulate for their potential transfer to the UK. The family had been staying at the large Holiday World Resort complex, which includes multiple hotels and extensive amenities. Emergency foster placements have been arranged for the children
