Britain's economy will not recover unless war in Ukraine ends, warns Rishi Sunak 🔴 The Prime Minister is set to propose a “five-point plan” to boost the world’s economy and move on from the chaos caused by Vladimir Putin’s invasion of Ukraine
. A No 10 spokesman said: “The Prime Minister will talk about how he is further ensuring economic stability and fiscal credibility.”Russia is primarily to blame for global inflation, energy shortages and the looming worldwide recession
. He will say that the best way to bring the economy back under control would be for Mr Putin to withdraw from Ukraine, but add that the G20 can alleviate the situation by working together to help the countries which are suffering worst – in the same way as it did in 2009, in the wake of the global financial crisis.
His five-point “economic action plan” includes speeding up the transition to green energy, which he says is “the best way of protecting ourselves from those who have perpetually used hydrocarbons to bully and coerce” – reducing the impact that Russia and other autocratic regimes can have onMr Sunak will also say that richer democratic countries should offer “honest, reliable finance to help developing countries grow sustainably”, in contrast to the financing offer by countries such as China...
The other three points are directing government support to the most vulnerable individuals, ending embargoes on the distribution of food which have resulted from the Ukraine war, and reforming the World Trade Organization to boost international commerce and crack down on governments which unfairly manipulate trade networks.
