He emailed managers at Cullis Engineering, in St Neots, Cambs, to explain his situation - only to be told there was “no verifiable explanation” for his absence. “Unless we hear otherwise, we will have no option but to consider disciplinary action against you for unauthorised absence.”The engineer, from Newark, Notts, travelled to the island of Panay in February to visit his 27-year-old wife, Camille.
