A dangerous dog that has killed two family pets in Brisbane will be euthanised.
Residents in Sherwood say the staffordshire bull terrier was becoming more aggressive and posed a threat to children.
Jessie Lafferty-Delaney told 9News the dog mauled her cat to death in front of her young son in their driveway in April."The dog just grabbed him by the throat and started tearing him to shreds," she said."If it keeps going for small animals, what's it going to take before it goes for a child?""I had to hold on to the dog and called council but eventually the owners showed up and collected the dog," Tuppack said.
The owner was therefore required to keep the dog in an approved enclosure and fit it with a council-issued collar and a muzzle when it leaves the house.9News understands the owner has been fined five times for letting the dog wander. Following inquiries by 9News, Brisbane City Council today issued an order for the dog to be euthanised for community safety."The owner of this dog has not taken the adequate measures to secure their dog," Councillor Sarah Hutton told 9News.: Stay across all the latest in breaking news, celebrity and sport via our WhatsApp channel.
