Kinzinger dug in Tuesday after a Trump supporter said on social media that the incoming president “might as well oblige him” if Kinzinger would refuse a pardon from President: Bernie Sanders says that he thinks Biden should offer preemptive pardons to a host of different people, including the people Jan. 6 committee. I know that you said on CNN, that Anderson Cooper asked you, point blank, would you take a pardon if offered to you and your answer was?: Because I didn’t do anything wrong.
“‘Might as well oblige him.’ Bring it. History will torch you,” Kinzinger posted to X after someone called for him to be jailed.The committee’s final report asserted Trump criminally engaged in a “multi-part conspiracy” to overturn the lawful results of the 2020 presidential election and failed to act to stop his supporters from attacking the Capitol, concluding an extraordinary 18-month investigation into the former president and the violent insurrection four years ago.
The 814-page report released came after the panel interviewed more than 1,000 witnesses, held 10 hearings and obtained more than a million pages of documents.
The insurrection gravely threatened democracy and “put the lives of American lawmakers at risk,” the bipartisan nine-member panel concluded, offering a definitive account of a dark chapter in modern American history. It functions not only as a compendium of the most dramatic moments of testimony from months of hearings, but also as a document that is to be preserved as a warning for future generations.
