The Pittsford Mendon High School girls soccer team was escorted home by the Pittsford Fire Department Sunday, Nov. 17, 2024, after winning the state championship over New Hartford. The Pittsford Mendon High School girls varsity soccer team won the state championship over the weekend."I think it was just teamwork," said goalkeeper Kate Crowley. "It was really everybody was contributing to the win.
"Today was just enjoying our last game together as a team, and hoping that all of our dedication throughout the season finally paid off," added midfielder Charlotte Engin. "We got the championship, so it's great." The champs were escorted back home from the game — hardware in hand — by the Pittsford Fire Department.
"When you end a season, it's usually in tears and crying, and they're upset. This time, it's tears of joy," said head coach Eric Pritchard. "I thought that was the greatest feeling, because you don't have to leave the season with a loss."
