We take a look at our Bright Athlete for the week, Ireanna Blankenship. She tells us how she juggles three sports, while maintaining A-B honor roll.
The Abbeville Christian freshman has an impressive resume, juggling playing 3 different sports while staying on A-B Honor Roll and volunteering for her church.DOTHAN, Ala. - Anna Blankenship is a three-sport athlete at Abbeville Christian Academy .
However, softball holds a special place in her heart. “Ever since I started playing, I’ve created the most amazing bonds with my friends,’” said Anna. “I could never replace them.”“We’ve all been through the same struggles, and it means a lot to just have that connection with one another,” said Anna.“She’s one of the first ones to help pick somebody up and be a positive impact,” said David Pair, the head softball coach at Abbeville Christian. “Both with her bat and glove and with her attitude.”“I always try to instill in them that this is a team thing,” said Pair. “She’s always right there to help me do that.”“She’s on time or early for practice,” said Pair. “She’s aways staying late hitting and working fielding.”“If you want to be a great athlete and student, you have to put in the work,” said Anna. “There’s no days off.”“You have to learn how to shake off a bad grade,” said Anna. “If there’s drama, you have to push through it and I learned that from softball.”“She’s taught me that your errors don’t define you as a person,” said Anna. “It’s your character off the field that’s better than any play you ever make.”“It’s difficult picking yourself back up after an error,” said Anna. “But my teammates are always there to uplift me.”“I hope that I get multiple opportunities in volleyball, softball and basketball,” said Anna. “I hope that my bonds with my teammates are forever.”
