Multiple mistakes made the difference as LSU came up short against the Crimson Tide on Saturday night.
The LSU Tigers entered Bryant-Denny Stadium as the No. 1 offensive team in the country on Saturday night.
Four second half offensive penalties, combined with a costly interception and a devastating quarterback pressure by Dallas Turner derailed the Tigers hopes of beating the Crimson Tide for the second straight season. On top of its prolific offense sputtering out the Tiger's dismal defense hardly hindered the Alabama offense throughout the evening. The Crimson Tide particularly utilized quarterback Jalen Milroe's athleticism to break down the defense. He not only kept drives alive by running on third-down, but finished off four drives himself by becoming the first Alabama quarterback to rush for four scores in a game.
The redshirt sophomore converted six of the Crimson Tide's 11 third-down conversions by running with his legs, either by design or by improvisation. In fact, he and the offensive line were able to avoid the sack issues that have plagued him all season long by only taking a single sack in the game, on the game's opening possession.
Daniels came into Bryant-Denny Stadium as one of the Heisman Trophy contenders and while he didn't play poorly, Kelly indicated that his play was in-line with the rest of the Bayou Bengals effort. Good, but not elite.
