Brian Flores, the former head coach of the Miami Dolphins, is gaining traction as a top candidate for head coaching positions in the NFL. He is currently the senior defensive assistant for the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Flores, the defensive coordinator for the 14-3 Steelers, has constructed one of the league’s best units over the last two seasons despite some limitations with his personnel. So far, the New York Jets and Chicago Bears have requested for interviews with Flores, and more are expected to inquire about his availability in the coming days. This is no surprise, and it is expected that Flores will once again become a head coach in 2025. Flores was the Steelers' senior defensive assistant during the 2022 season. After he was fired by the Miami Dolphins following the 2021 season, Flores filed a lawsuit against the NFL for racial discrimination and retaliation. Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin reached out to Flores to offer him a job. Flores is now hot on the trail to becoming a head coach again. When he was with the Dolphins, tensions with quarterback Tua Tagovailoa and allegations of owner-directed tanking, which Flores refused to partake in, were among the top reasons he was fired. Part of the Bill Belichick tree, Flores was an assistant coach under Belichick’s guidance for over a decade. He started his career as a scout and worked his way up to being the team’s linebackers coach before landing the head coach position with the Dolphins
