A Florida man was arrested after the shooting that left Auburn University running back Brian Battie in critical condition and his brother dead.Darryl Bernard Brookins was charged Wednesday afternoon with murder, attempted murder and possession of a firearm as a felon, according to a news release from the Sarasota County Sheriff's Office.
'We know he will continue to fight and overcome this, just as he has overcome so many other obstacles in his life,' the fundraiser's organizers wrote.The money raised will help cover funeral costs and medical bills.'The family is understandably shocked by this loss and not prepared for all that is happening at this time,' the GoFundMe organizers wrote.Auburn Head Coach Hugh Freeze asked people to pray for Brian Battie in an X post on Monday.'Auburn family.
