The Milwaukee Brewers, despite losing key players, are projected to remain a strong contender in the National League Central. Can they surpass expectations and challenge the Chicago Cubs' projected dominance?
The Milwaukee Brewers are poised to enter the 2025 season with a familiar sense of dominance. Having clinched the National League Central in both the 2023 and 2024 seasons, the Brewers have established themselves as a consistent force within the division. In fact, they've won the Central title in three out of the last four years, consistently exceeding 86 wins during this period.
Although the 2025 roster will see some notable changes from the 93-win squad of the previous year, the core remains largely intact. The Brewers will, however, be without the services of key players Devin Williams and Willy Adames. Williams was traded for Nestor Cortes and Caleb Durbin, while Adames departed in free agency. While there may not be direct replacements for these departed stars, Trevor Megill is anticipated to fill Williams's void. The pitching rotation is projected to benefit significantly from Cortes's arrival and the expected return of Brandon Woodruff early in the season after missing the entire 2024 campaign. Despite these positive developments, current projections anticipate the Brewers to finish with 80.5 wins and 81.5 losses, placing them as the second-best team in the National League Central behind the Chicago Cubs. Chicago, who has been more active in the offseason, is projected to win 90.5 games and lose 71.5, indicating a potential 10-game advantage. However, considering the Brewers' consistent performance over the past four years, their projected win total might be underestimated
