Goldstein headlines the adult comedy Office Romance on Netflix, earning a fifty eight percent rating on Rotten Tomatoes and sparking debate over its humor, chemistry and predictability while the beloved series Ted Lasso prepares for a new season focused on a women s football team.

A newly released adult comedy starring Brett Goldstein is drawing a lukewarm response from viewers on the popular review platform Rotten Tomatoes . The film, Office Romance , premiered on Netflix just as the beloved series Ted Lasso prepares to launch its fourth season, which will follow the title character as he takes charge of a women s football club.

Fans of the show will recognise familiar faces such as Hannah Waddingham as Rebecca Welton, Juno Temple as Keeley Jones, Brett Goldstein as Roy Kent, Jeremy Swift as Leslie Higgins and Brendan Hunt as Coach Beard, all of whom will return for the upcoming season. In the meantime Goldstein has stepped out of his usual role as a supporting actor to headline his own romantic comedy.

He portrays Daniel Blanchflower, a diligent lawyer harbouring a family secret who finds himself unexpectedly attracted to his boss Jackie Cruz played by Jennifer Lopez, the charismatic chief executive of the fictional airline Air Cruz. Goldstein co wrote the screenplay with Joe Kelly, a fellow Ted Lasso alumnus, and the duo also served as producers. The project was directed by Ol Parker, known for his work on several successful romantic comedies.

On Rotten Tomatoes the film has so far earned a 58 percent Popcornmeter rating, which classifies it as rotten under the site s system where a score of sixty percent or higher is required for a fresh label. Audience reactions have been mixed, with many reviewers criticising the humor, the chemistry between the two leads, the predictable plot and the feeling that the movie does not live up to Lopez s track record in the genre.

The Tomatometer score sits at fifty percent, only a few points below the audience rating. Despite the overall negative trend, some critics have offered more generous assessments. Screen Rant awarded the film seven out of ten stars, noting that the experience often elicited a giddy smile even if pacing issues were evident and the visual style felt merely serviceable rather than spectacular. The reviewer concluded that these flaws did not prevent the movie from being a delightful watch.

In terms of audience metrics Office Romance represents Goldstein s lowest‑rated effort since the 2022 release of The Nan Movie, which received a fifty five percent audience score. Since then most of his projects have earned fresh ratings, including a ninety six percent audience response for The Sheep Detectives and an eighty nine percent rating for the second season of Apple TV s series Shrinking.

Critical reception has been similarly divided for his recent work, with The Garfield Movie and At the Sea both receiving rotten Tomatometer scores. The supporting cast of Office Romance includes Betty Gilpin as Jackie s trusted colleague Sydney Bloom, Edward James Olmos portraying Captain Jack Cruz, the founder of Air Cruz, Jodie Whittaker as Daniel s sister Lizzy, Tony Hale as human resources manager George Dudek, Roger Bart as Falcon Airlines chief executive William Butten and Bradley Whitford as Peter Vance, the head of Air Cruz legal affairs.

Goldstein s involvement with Netflix marks his first major streaming venture after several seasons of Ted Lasso and the Apple TV series Shrinking, as well as the film All of You. He continues to write for Ted Lasso and serves as co creator, producer and star of Shrinking, where he plays Louis, a character introduced in season two and returning for season three.

While season four of Ted Lasso is currently in development, it remains unconfirmed whether the Louis character will appear again. Office Romance is available for streaming on Netflix and runs ninety four minutes. The film was produced by a team that includes Aaron Ryder, Andrew Swett, Benny Medina, Brett Goldstein, Elaine Goldsmith Thomas and Jennifer Lopez, with Ol Parker at the helm as director
