Brentwood appoints Assistant City Manager Terrance Davis as the acting city manager while G. Harold Duffey is placed on administrative leave.
, Terrance Davis will now take over as acting city manager. The Brentwood City Council made the unanimous decision to appoint Davis during a special meeting Tuesday.
His salary has yet to be finalized.
“Any compensation associated with the acting city manager appointment will be considered separately in open session, as required by law, at the next available council meeting,” said Mayor Susannah Meyer. Davis, who has more than 20 years local government experience in California, joined Brentwood in March after a highly competitive nationwide recruitment process. He has also held leadership roles in Vallejo and Sacramento. Duffey was placed on leave by the council on June 9.
While the city did not provide a specific reason, Meyer said the decision was “not a final determination of any matter. ” She said the city could not provide more details concerning the action because of legal, privacy, and due process limits.with an annual base salary of $304,515. He had previously served as an assistant city administrator in Oakland.after reports of text messages he sent about women who worked at City Hall came to light.
Less than two weeks after Johnson’s resignation, several Brentwood employee associations came forward with complaints of gender-based discrimination during Duffey’s time in Brentwood. On May 26, employees from four organizations who submitted a letter to the City Council said they had a “serious concern” about Duffey and incidents at their workplace.
