It’s too early to tell, but we’ll know more after Friday’s Juvenile Fillies, one of five Breeders’ Cup races at Santa Anita on what is dubbed Future Stars Friday. Tamara, who’ll be ridden by Mike Smith, drew the No. 7 post and will face 12 other 2-year-old fillies in the $2 million Grade I race. Tamara ran a faster 7 furlongs in the Debutante than Prince of Monaco in the Del Mar Futurity. Her time was the fastest since Halfbridled’s 1:22.20 in 2003.
Smith, who rode Zenyatta and Songbird during their great careers, realizes how blessed he is to have ridden two of the best female horses ever.
