From Breakingviews - Arm IPO depends on more than Big Tech support
Amazon.com is in talks about joining other technology companies as a cornerstone investor in Arm ahead of the UK-based chip designer’s upcoming initial public offering, ReutersArm has been in talks with at least 10 technology companies, including Intel, Alphabet, Apple, Microsoft, TSMC, Samsung Electronics and Nvidia, about an investment ahead of the chip company’s IPO, Reuters has reported. These investors would not gain any board seat or control, according to the sources.
Arm, which is owned by Japan’s SoftBank Group, plans to list on the Nasdaq exchange in early September, and could raise between $8 billion and $10 billion, Reuters reported.SoftBank acquired Arm for $32 billion in 2016.Opinions expressed are those of the author.
