JUST IN | Minister Joe Phaahla names new health ombud
Health Minister Joe Phaahla has announced Professor Taole Mokoena as the new health ombud. He began his seven-year term on Thursday. The announcement comes two days after Professor Malegapuru Makgoba formally completed his term.The Mpumalanga health department has reported its first cholera death. A 73-year-old woman died after she was admitted to Mmametlhake Hospital complaining of diarrhoea and nausea. At least 23 people have died of cholera in the last two weeks.
John Block, who is currently serving a 15-year sentence for corruption committed when he was an MEC in Northern Cape, has been linked to a separate fraud case. The Department of International Relations and Cooperation on Monday gazetted a notice stating that those attending the BRICS summit will be afforded diplomatic immunity.
