The presidency says this is a ‘priority proclamation’ that Ramaphosa wants to submit to the 5th parliament before it ends on Wednesday
President Cyril Ramaphosa is due to sign a proclamation that will lead to the establishment of the National Prosecuting Authority’s new investigative directorate on Tuesday.
“It is a significant step in our quest to strengthen measures we have at our disposal to find crime and corruption,” presidency spokesperson Khusela Diko said. During his state of the nation speech in February, Ramaphosa announced that an investigative directorate would be established. He said the new directorate would focus on the evidence given at the state capture commission, chaired by deputy chief justice Raymond Zondo, as well as other commissions and disciplinary inquiries.
