On Tuesday, the U.S. Treasury Department rolled out the first information on Trump accounts, which will help eligible families save money for their children.

The investment accounts will start with a deposit of $1,000 from the Treasury, and contributions can be made by families and employers until the child turns 18. Once eligible for withdrawal, the money can be used for higher education, buying a home, or starting a business.

Basically, any child born during President Donald Trump’s second term in office is eligible.Both parents and the child must have a Social Security number.by the Treasury to start signing up children. Once established, families can contribute a maximum of $2,500 a year into the account, and employers can also contribute $2,500.A more than $6 billion gift by the founders of the computer company Dell will also add money to the Trump accounts, and is eligible for a much wider group of children. For children under 10 years old and born before January 2025, $250 will be deposited into their Trump account if they live in a ZIP code where the median income is below $150,000.Copyright 2025 WOIO.
