The Brazilian prosecutor over Danelo Calvacante's homicide case in Tocantins thought the convicted killer facing life in a U.S. prison was escaping to face a lighter sentence in Brazil.
Danelo Cavalcante, a convicted killer, was captured Wednesday after he escaped from the Chester County Prison in Pennsylvania on Aug. 31, sparking a massive, two-week-long manhunt.
The victim's sister later told police she thought Cavalcante attacked him because of a debt he owed related to damage done to a car, according to a police report seen by The AP.
