The Chicago Bears placed left tackle Braxton Jones on injured reserve Wednesday with a neck injury, another surprising and unfortunate development for a reeling and winless team. Jones, a fifth-round pick out of Southern Utah in 2022, has started all 19 games in his career and hasn’t missed an offensive snap. Now he’s out at least four games as he seeks additional evaluation to determine the specifics and severity of his injury.[Don't miss] Will defensive coordinator Alan Williams return to the Chicago Bears? Coach Matt Eberflus won’t say. With Jones sidelined, the Bears could turn to Larry Borom to fill the hole at left tackle.

“There’s certainly a thought there for sure,” Eberflus said. “When you’re working with a first-year player, a lot of times you like to leave them in the same spot. But certainly that’s been in conversation.”Since Eberflus arrived in 2022, the Bears have used 11 starting offensive line combinations. A 12th is imminent Sunday against the Kansas City Chiefs.

Jones joins left guard Teven Jenkins on IR. Jenkins suffered a leg injury late in the preseason and is out until at least Week 5.
