Many baseball analysts believe the Braves shouldn't give Arcia a third season. Though he hit 17 home runs, Arcia batted just .218 with a 73 OPS+, significantly below the league average of 100. The Braves could explore moving Arcia to a utility role or trading him to another team needing infield help.
They aren't obligated to guarantee him a starting role next season. There's speculation that free agent shortstop, Kim, could be a significant upgrade over Arcia. He's a player that fits the type of shrewd signing Atlanta's president of baseball operations, Alex Anthopoulos, is known for. If Kim joins the Braves, he's likely to be the starting shortstop for the NL All-Star team. The Braves could offer Kim a qualitying offer next offseason, allowing him to leave in free agency if he seeks a multi-year deal. Despite receiving MVP votes in the National League two years ago, Kim underwent shoulder surgery in October and might not be ready for the 2025 Opening Day. The Braves might hesitate to acquire another player who won't be healthy by the end of March, considering they already have former MVP winner Ronald Acuña Jr. and ace Spencer Strider recovering from injuries. However, due to Kim's surgery, he could be willing to sign a one-year deal to rebuild his value on the open market. This would essentially be a one-year rental for the Braves without the cost of trading a prospect. Kim's market value is estimated to be around $12.3 million on an average annual salary basis
