I didn’t really meet him until years later. I think it was on a festival . He came on the bus to say, “Son, you're doing some things out there. There's quite a buzz about you.” It was one of those things where you could tell he was ready to be really supportive of any new guy he liked like that. You’re struck by his warmth, especially as a new artist. Everybody has a similar story with him. He was such a warm-hearted guy. We were friends right away.
