Investigators say weapons found on the 12 and 13-year-old brothers who were arrested after a pursuit came from part kits that are referred to as 'ghost guns.'

The detectives noted in the report that both firearms were from the brand "Polymer 80," a manufacturer of the part kits used to assemble the guns that do not have traceable serial numbers. According to the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives , the number of "ghost guns" seized by law enforcement. The rule prohibited the sale of firearm kits that allowed buyers to skip background checks and obtain parts that could easily be assembled into a working firearm.“Ghost guns are unregulated and untraceable. That means more and more are on the streets that nobody knows about,” said Captain Shelby Shearer.
