Boy stabbed near Birmingham New Street Station 'attacked by group'
A boy aged 13 stabbed near Birmingham's New Street station is believed to have been attacked by a group of youths.
They put temporary powers in place allowing them to stop and search people without the usual need to have reasonable grounds.It was believed the boy was attacked by a group at about 16:30 GMT and he was taken to hospital with injuries not believed to be life-threatening, West Midlands Police said.Ch Insp Richard Evans, from Birmingham police, said it had been "an appalling attack on a young boy" in the city centre.
"It's not something we do lightly, but we did this to protect everyone visiting and working in the city centre."
