KOTA KINABALU: Two 10-year-old boys were pulled out from a ditch by the public after they went fishing and swimming in a Kota Marudu ditch.
However, one died and the other is still being treated at the hospital.
The Fire and Rescue Department initially received a report at 4.49pm alerting the incident along Jalan Radu there."The first was rescued and brought to the hospital by the public. "The second boy was also rescued by the public and resuscitation efforts were conducted by an off duty fireman at the location while awaiting for the Fire and Rescue team and ambulance.
"The second victim was rushed to the hospital in the ambulance, and the operation ended at 5.45pm," said a Fire and Rescue spokesman, adding that they were later updated by the hospital that the second boy did not make it. The hospital did not provide further status on the first victim except that he was still being treated, added the spokesman.
