A mum has died and a 5-year-old boy is in hospital with serve head injuries after she 'deliberately jumped with him' over the 90ft Niagara Falls gorge.
State police believe the 34-year-old mum deliberately jumped into the icy gorge with her son
It is thought the mum jumped deliberately after climbing over a railing in Niagara State Park at around 12.30pm on Sunday. Her son was rescued and taken to a children’s hospital in Buffalo, where he remains in a critical condition after a head injury. ‘Although today it’s nice out, it’s very icy down there. It’s real tough terrain that our guy and our girls were able to get through and get to them and provide that life-saving care and do everything they could but, as far as putting other people at risk, we were going to make every effort for that child that was still alive at the time.’
