A 2-year-old boy was shot on a busy Bronx street Saturday afternoon, police reported.
The youngster was hospitalized in stable condition while police searched for the gunman responsible for the incident, which occurred at about 1:44 p.m. on March 30 near the corner of Grand Concourse and Fordham Road., in responding to a 911 call about a shooting at the location, found the youngster with a bullet wound to his hip.
Upon further investigation, police also located multiple shell casings at the crime scene, which is a major local shopping destination. The circumstances leading up to the shooting remain unknown and under investigation, police sources said. EMS rushed the wounded child to Jacobi Hospital, where he was listed in stable condition and is expected to make a recovery.Meanwhile, police are looking for the suspected shooter, described only as a man who was last seen fleeing the scene northbound along Crescent Avenue toward 190th Street.Anyone with information regarding the shooting can call Crime Stoppers at 800-577-TIPS .
