Screen Rant is proud to present the first official trailer for Uncork'd Entertainment's new horror The Devil Comes at Night. The film made its world premiere at the Blood in the Snow Film Festival in 2022 and is slated to release on digital and physical platforms this summer.
SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY SCROLL TO CONTINUE WITH CONTENT The Devil Comes at Night stars actors Ryan Allen and Adrienne Kress, both of whom serve as writers alongside director Scott Leaver. Kress is also an executive producer and has worked on projects such as American Gods, The Expanse, and The Hot Zone. Meanwhile, Allen is known for his role as Jack Drake in Titans and was recently featured in the miniseries, Essex County.
Given his fighting abilities and defensive training, Ben's background as a boxer sets him apart from the usual horror victim. However, this aspect has the potential to elevate the film and distinguish it from other works in the genre. Leaver shares his reasoning for the decision in his director's statement:
I wanted to avoid a typical horror movie lead. What would happen if you replaced the college co-ed or the office-bound family man with a physically imposing boxer? It would be a unique challenge to make our movie villains threaten a six-foot professional fighter with a history of violence. We needed to make the audience fear for him, pray he might turn the tables, but doubt he could win.
While Ben may be able to hold his own in a match, he and Amy are clearly at a disadvantage. The trailer indicates that the two are both unnerved and outnumbered, ensuring that an easy victory isn't in the cards. Viewers are sure to spend the entirety of the film on edge, given all the odds stacked against its protagonists.
