Slain child beauty queen JonBenét Ramsey’s big brother slammed authorities for their shoddy work during the initial 1996 investigation into the girl’s death — and defended their father, who critics have accused of compromising the crime scene in the long unsolved case.
John Ramsey discovered the 6-year-old’s body in the basement of the family’s Boulder, Colorado home and carried her upstairs after finding her. “It was his house. It was his daughter. Any parent would react in the same way,” his older son, John Andrew Ramsey, told The Post Saturday, two days after the 29th anniversary of the girl’s heinous murder.“The police failed to control the scene and put my father in an unthinkable situation by having him search the house. They and they alone bear the responsibility.” John Anthony, who wasn’t home on Dec. 26, 1996 when JonBenét’s body was found, also praised local cops for their recent pledge to solve the murder nearly three decades later. We have done this privately for a very long time, but the cops have not taken the same action in 20 years … I like our odds.” “Cops are moving in the right direction but need to be way more aggressive,” he said. “We have the very best DNA labs, scientists and researchers from around the world lined up and ready to work.John Ramsey and his second wife, Patsey, had found a ransom note hours before discovering their daughter’s body. JonBenét’ skull had been fractured, and a garrote was tied around her neck. The case was ruled a homicide. But the killer has remained at large and public speculation has remained high.
