Steve Rogers and Sam Wilson get epic new X-Treme CaptainAmerica costumes as Marvel honors the 90s in variant covers from NicKlein and ledkilla.

The '90s were not kind to Captain America when it came to X-Treme redesigns, but in new variant comic art, both Steve Rogers and Sam Wilson get new costumes that give each hero a look they deserved during the era. In recently released Marvel Comics art from Ken Lashley and Nic Klein, both versions of Captain America get a '90s makeover that makes them fit even better than ever before during a time filled with pouches, spikes, and shoulder pads.

SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY The '90s era in comics featured some X-Treme looks for numerous heroes, as bulky, over-designed costumes were among the most popular looks at the time. Unfortunately, for both current Captain America heroes, it's a time they'd probably like to forget. Famously, Steve Rogers got one of his worst costumes during the era, sporting an armored look that made him look like a knock-off, patriotic Iron Man.

In variant art for Captain America: Symbol of Truth #7 by Ken Lashley, Sam Wilson gets a busy-looking armor with numerous sharp edges and spikes throughout - including on his mask. The ensemble is undeniably '90s.

The X-Treme variant art from Marvel Comics is a fun way to give hero and villains '90s redesigns while embracing the bombastic time period for comics. However, Sam Wilson and Steve Rogers' new costumes are the looks they truly deserved in the era, unlike the much-forgotten looks they wore during the '90s.
