Bosch showcases its first Matter-enabled appliance, the 100 Series Frech Door Bottom Mount Refrigerator, at CES. The fridge will be available in the US this spring and will support Matter 1.3, allowing for local control and notifications through smart home platforms. BSH plans to integrate Matter into all its appliances across its brands, starting with refrigerators this year.

Home appliance manufacturer Bosch is showcasing its first Matter -enabled appliance at CES this week. The 100 Series Frech Door Bottom Mount Refrigerator , launched in November, will be available in the US this spring for $2,500. It features a built-in chip supporting Matter . A firmware update to the smart home standard will arrive this summer, according to Eelco Lammertink of BSH, the parent company of Bosch , Siemens, Thermador, and Gaggenau.

The 100 series is similar to the Matter-enabled Siemens XXL Fridge unveiled at IFA in Berlin last November, which will launch in the European market around the same time. Lammertink shared that BSH aims to integrate Matter into all its appliances across its Bosch, Siemens, and Thermador lines, starting with refrigerators this year. They will add one more appliance category next year and three in 2026. The 100 Series will support Matter 1.3, enabling remote temperature control and notifications from the fridge on your preferred smart home platform. This means a smart speaker can alert you if the door is left open. While many smart fridges already offer these features, Matter establishes a local connection between the appliance and the ecosystem, making it faster and more secure. Currently, only Samsung SmartThings and Home Assistant support Matter-enabled appliances, but Lammertink stated that Amazon will join this year. There is no news yet regarding Google Home or Apple Home. Lammertink revealed plans to include energy reporting and management capabilities in the fridge, allowing it to participate in a whole-home energy management system powered by Matter. However, he mentioned that existing appliances will not receive Matter updates due to significant challenges and the risk of bricking appliances
