Boris Johnson thanks Brits for their 'sacrifice' over coronavirus COVID19
He praised Brits who didn't visit their mums today, and instead made-do with a loving message over FaceTime or Skype or instead picked up the phone.Speaking at today's daily coronavirus press conference he said: "I want to thank everybody in the country today who...is being forced of course to do something differently today."The PM also thanked businesses who shut down, missing out on crucial Mother's Day profits.
He vowed the government would "stand behind" British business and workers throughout the crisis and was quick to remind Brits they were "saving lives." Thousands today scrapped plans for Sunday roasts at posh pubs and fancy meals out after scores of businesses closed their doors Friday.Writing for The Sun yesterday
He continued: "I know that everyone’s strongest instinct is to go and see their mother in person, to have a meal together, to show them how much you love them. But I am afraid that this Mothering Sunday, the single best present that we can give — we who owe our mothers so much — is to spare them the risk of catching a very dangerous disease.
