Former Prime Minister Boris Johnson says London needs a proper political leader to fight crime and criticises Sadiq Khan's leadership as Mayor.
Boris Johnson today calls on London mayor Sadiq Khan to 'wake up' and show 'political leadership' over the capital's soaring crime rate.
And he takes direct aim at the Labour mayor, who is facing a challenge from Tory Susan Hal in next year's election. 'So it is time for Sadiq Khan to wake up and take political leadership - it is no good just blaming the police, what they need is a proper political lead to fight crime.' Figures released last month showed that Scotland Yard takes more than two hours to respond to 'significant' grade 999 calls.
