Boris Johnson has launched a bid for an early general election after suffering a humiliating defeat in the Commons today.
A number of Conservatives rebelled against their party to move against no deal, despite warning they will be expelled from the party and prevented from standing in future elections.MPs will debate no deal tomorrow and a vote that could force Mr Johnson to delay Brexit rather than crash out without a deal will take place in the evening.
He said the threat of no deal was a necessary tool in negotiations and that blocking it would allow the EU to ‘dictate’ the course of Brexit.
