An ally of the ex-Prime Minister said the deal to write his memoirs, which is estimated to be several million pounds, would 'help give him the financial security that he needs'
In 2015 Mr Johnson signed a contract with Hodder & Stoughton for £500,000 to write a biography of William Shakespeare, entitledNow he is out of Downing Street, Mr Johnson will have more time to write his memoirs and is likely to have already taken extensive notes during the turmoil of last summer, according to an ally.
Harper Collins, which has acquired global rights to the book, said no date had yet been set for publication.
