Boosie Badazz has avoided jail time following his sentence on Jan. 9 related to his arrest in 2023 in San Diego for being a felon in possession of a gun. A district court judge sentenced the rapper last week to three years' supervised release, 300 hours of community service, and a $50,000 fine, according to a Department of Justice release.
In 2023, Boosie, whose real name is Torrence Ivy Hatch, was identified by police while watching an Instagram Live of a known member of a street gang, and the entertainer was captured on the social media video with a gun tucked in his waistband while appearing to film a music video. Hatch was arrested in a local neighborhood after authorities located a gun in the backseat of the car he was in. According to the DOJ, authorities later determined that the gun found in the back seat of the car was the same weapon in his waistband during the filming of the music video, and his DNA was found on both guns, which were bought by Boosie’s girlfriend in Georgia. The entertainer later admitted the gun found on the car seat where he was sitting was the same gun he had in the music video.
