.ByCasagrande took another look at Alabama's 20-19 victory over Texas, and has some more notes. 'The Crimson Tide couldn’t have looked worse for long stretches of the game but Texas couldn’t convert quality drives into touchdowns when it smelled blood.'

a 20-19 winner over Texas,

-- Breaking down the penalties, four were on the Alabama offense and 10 on defense and the one on special teams. Three false start flags including one on JC Latham on the opening sequence. -- Young was sacked twice, both on third downs. The first came on the opening drive when nobody got open downfield. He went down 4.46 seconds after the shotgun snap, at least on my watch.

-- Will Anderson had an interesting day, twice being flagged for lining up in the neutral zone on the opening drive before getting an undisciplined late hit flag later in the game. Afterward, he said he was thinking it was the NFL rule with the late hit since the Texas ball carrier fell without getting touched before getting up and continuing to run.

-- The second sack on Young was either a missed assignment or protection scheme because that was a free runner straight up the middle. Gibbs moved to his right to block with the linebacker sprinting straight through the A-gap for a 13-yard loss. -- Alabama linebacker Jaylen Moody quietly played a big game. He’s always been a big hitter on special teams but he’s really growing in his role as a middle linebacker.
