The F-150 Lightning 'demonstrator vehicle' follows the Ford electric SuperVan effort from last year.
While it may not be as famous as the Indy 500 or the Monaco Grand Prix, the Pikes Peak hillclimb is a prestigious race among motorsports fans. Known for its difficulty and acute danger, the "Race to the Clouds" has seen some of the greatest race car drivers and race car engineers battle for its glory. Generally speaking, Pikes Peak also serves as a nifty test bed to try out new tech in a motorsports environment—and that means EVs have become more common at the hillclimb..
Beyond confirming that the F-150 Lightning will be at Pikes Peak and the teaser image, Ford hasn't released any further information or specs. If we had to speculate, we would guess that the powertrain set up will be similar to that of the SuperVan from 2023: a tri-motor set up that makes four-digit horsepower. There will likely be other improvements to the F-150 Lightning based on lessons learned from the SuperVan, but we won't know more until we get official word from Ford.
