Major League Soccer side Minnesota United stunned more-fancied Premier League opponents Everton after recording a comprehensive 4-0 victory in their friendly encounter on Thursday morning.

Bafana Bafana international Hlongwane was named in the starting XI and featured for the MLS outfit during the first half as Minnesota romped to a three-goal lead during the opening 45 minutes. The 22-year-old was substituted at the half-time mark as both teams made wholesale changes for the second stanza before Minnesota went on to secure a resounding 4-0 win to pile the pressure on Toffees coach Frank Lampard.

Lampard was critical of his side's performance against lesser opposition and suggested that Everton could once again face a relegation battle in the Premier League this season, having only narrowly avoided the drop last time around. "...If we don’t want to be in that situation again, they have to be better and I have to be better," the former Chelsea star said, per"As a club, it reinforced the situation in terms of what we need to do with the squad because it has to be stronger than what we saw tonight.
