Chicago police say Ayca Sarialioglu hit a 40-year-old man crossing Chestnut Street near Michigan Avenue.
Ayca Sarialioglu appeared in bond court Wednesday where prosecutors say she went out for drinks with her friends at the Water Tower Place, located in the 800 block of Michigan Avenue. After leaving, she hit a parked car inside the garage and left the scene.
While traveling down Chestnut at a high rate of speed, she struck a 40-year-old man - sending him airborne before landing on the ground. The victim was a rideshare driver who had his back turned when the car hit him, according to prosecutors. Sarialioglu did not stop to render aid. Responding EMS found the victim screaming in pain on the ground and placed him on the stretcher. Around 15 minutes later, they received a call of a woman passed out inside a vehicle that was heavily damaged a mile from the crash, in the 300 block of West Eerie Street.
Witnesses identified Sarialioglu based on a photo lineup and photos taken at the scene. She hit several more cars before coming to a stop, according to police.Sarialioglu was charged with two felony counts of failure to report accident/injury and leaving the scene of an accident, and two misdemeanor counts of leaving the scene and driving under the influence of alcohol. She was also cited for failure to reduce speed.Sarialioglu is due back in court on June 21.
